George was a Private, Service Number 18821, in the 7th Battalion of the Shropshire Light Infantry (King’s).

He was Killed in Action on 27th September 1918, less than two months before the end of the war.

He now lies in Grave K. 24. of Lowrie Cemetery, Havrincourt in the Pas de Calais. This is a small cemetery of just 251 First World War graves situated about 12 kilometres south-west of Cambrai in the Somme area. In common with George, most of the men buried in the cemetery died in September 1918.
