We do not know how he came to live in Uttoxeter because he was born at Broadheath,[3] or St. Johns [6a], Worcestershire. His family came from the West country (Herefordshire and Worcestershire[6a].. His father and siblings are all born in either St. Johns or Hallow, Worcestershire[6a] and his mother was born at Lenton, Herefordshire[6a].

The  1901 Census[6a] recorded him as living with his parents and eight siblings in the Civil Parish of North Hallow, Worcestershire. In order of birth, Frederick and his siblings, up to 1901, were as follows: Alice, Thomas, Henry, Frederick, Leonard, Kate, Blanche, Gladys and Mabel.

Before the war Frederick worked for Mr. E. A. deVille, Butcher, in the High Street of Uttoxeter.

In a cruel stroke of fate he was killed in action just three weeks before the end of the war. It will have been particularly difficult for his family to see the Armistice celebrations going on around them while they were in mourning themselves.

Frederick is buried in Grave A-1 in the Forest Communal Cemetery.
