He does not appear on the town’s memorials, but he is included in the memorial on the wall of Thomas Alleyne’s School. We do not know whether he was a pupil or a member of staff.

We cannot be certain that we have identified the correct P. Faulkner, but the details in the Summary Table above relate to the most likely match. The records for the other five P. Faulkners in the SDGW database all link them back to places a long way away from Uttoxeter. That is not to say, of course, that this rules them out as being our P. Faulkner, but it makes them less likely to be him.

There are no P. Faulkners in the Officers Died in the Great War database.

Before the war Percy was employed by the Bass Brewery[3], presumably in Burton-on-Trent. We do not know in what capacity.

He was also a member of St. Chads Church in Burton on Trent[3] and was clearly a very sporty man because he was a playing member of the Burton Football Club[3]. He was also a member of the Burton Rugby Club and Leander Rowing Club[3].

Percy is known to have enlisted by the 2nd of September 1914[3] and was serving with the Rifle Brigade by the 19th of September 1914[3].

He first served in France on 20th May 19157 and was killed in action in the Ypres Salient[3, 5].just two months later.

He has no known grave and he is commemorated on a panel on the side of the Menin Gate in Ypres:
