He was the nephew of Mr. T. Stone, of Cheadle Road, Uttoxeter and left Uttoxeter some years before the war[1].
He enlisted in the Loyal North Lancashire Regiment in about June 1915[1] and went to France in about February 1916[1].
He had been in France for six months when he was wounded in both legs on the 11th of August 1916[1]. Unfortunately, he died of his wounds the following day.
He is commemorated on the war memorial inside the Catholic Church in Balance Street |
