His brother was Mr. G. Marsh of Heath Cross, Uttoxeter. [3b].

He went missing during the battle of the Somme on 12th October 1916[3b], but it was not until the end of August 1917 that his family finally received official confirmation of his death[3b].

The Uttoxeter Advertiser roll of honour says that he died at Le Transloy, France.

He has no known grave and his name is recorded on the Thiepval Memorial to the Missing[CWGC].
