He was a native of Abbots Bromley, but lived in Bradley Street, Uttoxeter.
He enlisted soon after the outbreak of the war[1a] and was married at the time of enlistment[1a]. His wife died between then and his being reported killed, leaving a family of four children[1a]. We do not know what happened to their children.
He was officially reported as killed in the 2nd May 1917 issue of the Uttoxeter Advertiser[1a], but, unfortunately, no date for his death was given..
We have not managed to find him in the Commonwealth War Graves Commission’s database yet.
