Talks Based on World War 1 History
We can provide illustrated talks based around our First World War research. We try to get across the human stories of the war as much as the military history.
We currently have the following talks available with a Uttoxeter theme.
Lost generation of an English Town
A general talk describing the impact the War had on Uttoxeter from 1914 to 1918.

A Talk on the battle which shocked the town in 1915 with loss of 15 men on one day

A talk on Uttoxeter’s part in the Battle of the Somme
As Uttoxeter provides a microcosm of the War so we have found these talks to be of interest to groups outside of the immediate Uttoxeter area.

A Personal Perspective on REMEMBRANCE
This talks looks at the many facets of remembrance including War Memorials, Lost Talent, the Poppy, 2 Minutes Silence, the Unknown Warrior and our Personal views
Heroic Actions and Daring Deeds of the Great War
This is a talk using original Lantern slide from the war complemented by the original text read out to the audience
Western Front -
The western front extends fro the Belgian coast to the Swiss frontier. This talk takes us on a journey along the front using our own picture collection to show what today’s traveller can expect to see
Our talks are designed to be of around an hours duration followed by questions and answers, but can be adjusted to your requirements.
We will bring a laptop and projector but ask that the venue provides a screen or has a suitable wall for projection.
We will also bring along artefacts from the war for the audience to view, therefore we would appreciate table space to set our display on.
We charge £75 for a talk which includes our expenses for venues within a 30 mile radius of Derby. For venues further afield please contact us.
