We do not know exactly how Philip died, but we do know that he died after the war had ended. The SDGW database gives his mode of death as ‘Died’, which usually means illness or an accident. Whatever the cause of his death was, and as he was not in England, we can only presume that he was either too ill or badly injured to be transported back.
